JKL Racing was founded in the Spring of 2010 by Julie and Kevin Larson. The team was founded with the object of “paying forward” the support and sponsorship that Kevin Larson has been fortunate to have during his skating career. |

For many years, Kevin was sponsored by Cathy Morante, skating for her indoor team Long Island Speed, and later for her own outdoor sponsored pro team, “M Team.” Kevin was also fortunate to have been a sponsored skater for Phil Senechal on the Pro Master team of EC Beast/Verducci. In early 2010, Cathy Morante decided it was time for her to retire from her involvement in speedskating.

Julie and Kevin had already been helping some skaters out here and there with a little financial support, and with Cathy’s decision to leave the sport, it seemed to be a good time to pick up where Cathy was leaving off. And so, JKL Racing was born. Our object is to reward dedication and hard work of skaters in the Eastern region, hopefully instilling confidence in these hard working individuals, while also giving a little financial support when it is needed. We are proud of every single person who wears our uniform.

A discussion of “paying it forward” in the sport of inline speedskating for us would not be complete without mentioning another selfless individual, who devoted many, many hours to the sport and was a good friend to both Julie and Kevin. Rosanne Chirillo was a dedicated skater, who was very involved with Cathy Morante’s teams of Long Island Speed and M Team, as well as volunteering her time in helping at various skating events including the former Empire Skate Series. Rosanne lost her battle with breast cancer in July of 2008. We dedicate JKL Racing to our friend Rosanne and know that she is watching over all the racing that we participate in and cheering us all on.
